Pneumonia is a serious lung infection that can cause fever, chest pain, shortness of breath, and trouble breathing.
The most common cause of pneumonia is bacteria in the air that are breathed in.
Bacteria can also enter the lungs when they are coughed or sneezed out from the nose or mouth.
Pneumonia is dangerous because it makes it difficult to breathe and can lead to death if not treated quickly.
The introduction of this section will be on how to prevent the onset of dementia.
It is important for people to know that there are many things they can do to reduce their risk of developing dementia. These things include:
1- Keeping a healthy weight
2- Staying physically active
3- Eating a healthy diet
4- Not smoking
The medical care for pneumonia is typically divided into two stages. Stage One is the treatment of the symptoms and stage two is the treatment of the underlying infection.
The second stage of treatment for pneumonia is to help the person breathe more easily. This may be done by giving oxygen, using a breathing machine (ventilator), or both.
– Give oxygen: Administering oxygen is a common way to help people breathe more easily and relieve breathlessness. The person will need to wear an oxygen mask or nasal prongs while they are receiving oxygen.
– Use a breathing machine (ventilator): If the person’s condition does not improve by giving them supplemental oxygen, they may need to use a breathing machine. A ventilator is also called an artificial respirator or mechanical respirator and can be used while the person sleeps at night or when they are sedated during the day.
The third stage of pneumonia treatment is hospitalization and treatment. If the person has severe symptoms or is at risk of complications, they will be hospitalized for treatment.
The length of hospitalization depends on the severity of the illness and how well it responds to antibiotics.
A person with pneumonia may be discharged from the hospital after 3-5 days if they are responding well to antibiotics, have no complications, and are able to take care of themselves at home.
If not, they may need an additional 1-2 weeks in the hospital before being discharged.
Stage four pneumonia diagnosis is not a death sentence. It’s possible to live for years with this disease. While there are no treatments that can cure the disease, there are treatments that can help people live longer.
